Announcing New Faculty Appointments & Promotions for the 2025–2026 Academic Year

The Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) announces the promotions of Jenny French and Elizabeth Christoforetti to Associate Professors in Practice of Architecture. In addition, Amy Whitesides has been appointment Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture. The promotions and appointment are effective July 1, 2026.

Jenny French is a partner at Boston-based studio French 2D, which she co-founded with Anda French. French 2D’s work in collective housing and imaginative, adaptive urban infill has been widely published and recognized. Their research and built work play deftly with the formal and social organizations of domestic life to spur typological and regulatory invention. French received her MArch and the Julia Amory Appleton Fellowship from the GSD.

Elizabeth Christoforetti is the founding principal of Supernormal, an architecture and urbanism studio based in Cambridge, MA. Her research-driven practice strives to create meaningful and practical change through the intersection of architecture, urbanism, technology, and contemporary culture. Elizabeth’s research group, the Laboratory for Values in the Built Environment (ViBE Lab), aims to reveal the potential for scalable systems of design that integrate a combination of social and technological processes. Christoforetti earned her MArch with distinction from the GSD, winning the Henry Adams Medal.

Amy Whitesides is a registered landscape architect with over a decade of practice-based experience. Her work transforms landscapes for resilience and adaptation to environmental risk by reconnecting ecological systems and human relationships to the land. Through her research, teaching, and practice, she seeks new models of collective action and value that offer ecologically and socially productive alternatives to the extraction and commodification of land. Whitesides earned her MLA from the GSD.
