Leonard Allen-Smith is Lecturer in Real Estate and Founder and CEO of Allen Smith Equities. His course, Artificial Intelligence in Real Estate: Practice, Judgement, and the Built Environment, explores how AI can support professional decision-making across investment, development, and asset management.
As an educator, he has led executive workshops on practical applications of AI for various organizations. As a practitioner, his work spans real estate development, investment analysis, and the application of artificial intelligence across investment and operating processes. Allen Smith Equities is a New York-based real estate development and advisory firm. Projects include ground up construction, building rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse across the boroughs.
He previously served as Managing Partner at East Chop Capital, a private equity firm specializing in the acquisition and development of vacation rental homes. As a project manager at A.S. III Design Studio, a NY based architectural firm, he oversaw rehabilitation construction. A certified public accountant, he began his career in Big 4 Accounting at KPMG, providing tax compliance services to real estate funds, investment partnerships, and real estate investment trusts.
Leonard currently serves on the Harvard Alumni Real Estate Board as Student Programming Chair. He holds a Master in Real Estate from Harvard (a member of the inaugural cohort) from which he received the 2024 Award for Outstanding Leadership in Urban Planning, Urban Design, and Real Estate. His MBA and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degrees were earned at Hampton University.
