Daví Parente Schoen (MUP/MLA ’19) has been named a 2026–2027 Rome Prize Fellow in Landscape Architecture. This honor, awarded by the American Academy in Rome, supports innovative work in 13 disciplines across the arts and humanities, providing artists and scholars with dedicated time, space, and a transdisciplinary community to advance their work in Rome.

Schoen is the founder of Out Of Office, a collaborative design, research, and craft-based practice based in San Francisco, as well as an associate at CMG Landscape Architecture. Schoen will use the Sanpietrini, the basalt cobblestones that cover Rome’s historic core, as a lens through which to explore the relationship between material, craft, and labor in the making and ongoing adaptation of Rome’s streets and plazas. The project aims to both examine Rome’s past and use that work to inform speculations that look towards the future.
