Real estate is not only the largest asset class in the global economy but also one of the most heavily regulated sectors. The Real Estate Law course reviews the varied roles that lawyers play in navigating this regulated sector for commercial real estate clients. These roles include negotiating and structuring transactions, navigating policies, laws, and regulations across the lifecycle of real estate assets, and resolving real-estate-related disputes. Through general readings and engagement with transactional documents, the course, in particular, explores central legal dimensions of the acquisition, development, operation, and disposition of commercial real estate. And throughout, the course considers broader legal ecosystems surrounding real estate markets in the United States and internationally.
