Key Dates and Deadlines
Harvard GSD – Fall 2025
- Tuesday, September 2: Cross-Registration Opens for all Fall courses.
- Tuesday, September 16: Last day to submit a cross-registration petition and drop full Term and Fall Module 1 (F1) courses.
- Wednesday, October 29: Last day to submit a cross-registration petition and drop Fall Module 2 (F2) courses.
Harvard GSD – Spring 2026
- Monday, January 26: Cross-Registration Opens for all Spring courses.
- Friday, February 6: Last day to submit a cross-registration petition and drop full Term and Spring Module 1 (S1) courses.
- Monday, March 30: Last day to submit a cross-registration petition and drop Spring Module 2 (S2) courses.
How to Cross Register
Step 1: Cross-register for courses directly in WEBSIS (MITSIS). You can do this by creating an add/drop petition.
Step 2: GSD Instructor and the GSD Registrar will grant permission. Once your enrollment request has been approved, you are enrolled and no further action is required.
Step 1: Create an account allowing you to enroll through my.harvard. The New User Registration form needs to be re-submitted each term regardless of previous FAS course enrollments.

Dropping GSD Courses
Email the GSD Registrar at [email protected] to drop a course.
- You must drop a course by the earliest possible deadline.
- Dropping a course after the GSD deadline will be recorded as a withdrawal from the course.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are all GSD courses available for Cross-Registration?
No, not all GSD courses are available for Cross-Registration. You will want to review the course listing in my.harvard to determine if a course is eligible for cross-registration.
Can I audit a GSD course rather than formally enroll?
Yes, students who are eligible to cross-register can instead decide that they want to audit a course. Please review the Audit Procedures for more information on this process.
My instructor has not approved my cross-registration petition that I submitted in my.harvard, can I still enroll?
Without an approved petition students outside of the GSD cannot enroll in the GSD course.
Can I petition to change the grading basis for a GSD course?
No, all GSD courses are graded on a single grading basis. There are no exceptions to this.
As a Non-GSD student, am I eligible to participate in the Limited Enrollment Lottery?
No, the Limited Enrollment Lottery is only for students enrolled in a GSD degree program.
