Dan Cummings joined Bain Capital in 2018 as the leader of Bain Capital Real Estate’s founding team. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Mr. Cummings was Managing Director and Head of Harvard Management Company’s (HMC) Real Estate Investment Group where he was responsible for investment strategy and management of the endowment’s $6 billion real estate portfolio, and was a member of the Executive and Investment Committees.

Prior to joining HMC, from 2007 to 2009, he was a Founder and Managing Director of Matapeake Partners LLC, an international real estate investment management and development company headquartered in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, from 2001 through 2007, Mr. Cummings served as Senior Advisor and Managing Director of the Carlyle Group, where he established Carlyle’s international real estate business, and was a member of the Investment Committee for Carlyle’s opportunistic real estate funds in Europe and Asia. From 1979 until 2000, he was a leading executive of LaSalle Investment Management (“LIM”) and its parent, Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated, where he was Co-CEO and CIO of LIM, and an original member of the Board of Directors of LaSalle Partners and subsequently Jones Lang LaSalle (“JLL” on the NYSE). Mr. Cummings received his MBA from University of Chicago and graduated from Dartmouth College with Distinction in Economics.
