Kamala joined the GSD Alumni Council in 2025 and looks forward to participating in the DEI and Ambassadorship Committees. She has previously served on the board of the San Francisco AIA Center for Architecture & Design, the Central Waterfront Advisory Group, and the Green Building Commission.

Awarded BizNow Bay Area Power Women Award in 2022 and 2019, Kamala brings 20+ years of global real estate leadership, driving strategic, sustainable, and transformative projects for global portfolios. After a stint doing international development work, Kamala led teams at global design firms Gensler and Perkins+Will, guiding significant development projects from conception to completion. At the University of California San Francisco, she spearheaded the planning, development, and delivery of the University’s Long Range Plan. Currently at Google, she drives the real strategy and growth for two of their fastest-growing business units. Known for her data-driven approach and exceptional cross-functional collaboration, she excels in navigating complex real estate challenges and delivering impactful solutions, particularly within high-growth and rapidly changing environments. Her love for the built environment stems from her international experiences. She is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with her husband and two boys, who make sure she doesn’t take herself too seriously.
