Lina Malfona is an Associate Professor of Architecture and Director of the Polit(t)ico Research Lab at the University of Pisa. She holds a Ph.D. in Architectural and Urban Design and has taught at prestigious institutions, including Sapienza University of Rome and Cornell University. Her distinguished career includes research fellowships from the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), the Getty Research Institute (GRI), the University of Queensland (ATCH), and a Fulbright grant at NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts.

As an author and scholar, her work blends architectural history, theory, and critique to examine the friction between pure composition and shifting urban landscapes.

Her recent publications include La fine della Silicon Valley: Architettura del capitalismo digitale (Treccani, 2026), The Mannerist Phase in Architecture. On Early Style (Routledge 2025), and Residentialism. A Suburban Archipelago (ACTAR, 2021). Her essays have appeared in architectural journals, including Domus, Log, and The Journal of Architecture.

She is the organizer of the University of Pisa’s symposium series, “Weird Science, Isolated Intelligence: Histories of Architecture, Technology, and Evolution,” and editor of Future or Eclipse of Criticism (ACTAR, 2025).

Alongside her academic research, she is the founder of Malfona Petrini Architettura, an award-winning firm featured at the MAXXI Museum of Rome, the Venice Architecture Biennial, and the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
