Seema’s professional experience as a community planner is informed by innovation through financing, implementation, research, and teaching. Currently, she is the Deputy Director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s only community development loan program (Section 108 Program), which was created in 1974. In 2022, she received the Secretary’s Award for her work to support the Department’s mission to build strong and thriving communities. In addition, she periodically lectures at the University of the District of Columbia in urban leadership and entrepreneurship. In parallel, she is a Planetizen course instructor to support current and future planners for an impactful urban planning career.
