Xaveer De Geyter

Xaveer De Geyter is the principal and founder of XDGA, an internationally operating architecture and urban design firm, established in 1989 and based in Brussels and Paris. XDGA stands for progressive and provocative urban and architectural concepts.
Major completed projects range from public space projects such as the Subway Station and Public Square Place Rogier in Brussels and the Lungomare Waterfront in Vlora, Albania, to educational infrastructure like the Europa College in Bruges, the Kitchen Tower in Brussels and the Melopee Multipurpose School in Ghent, next to civic venues such as the Headquarters of the Province of Antwerp.
Notable unbuilt projects include the Schuman Square in Brussels, the Museum of Fine Arts in Tournai, and the International Olympic Committee Headquarters in Lausanne.
Ongoing projects comprise, among others, the ‘Brigittines’ Housing Complex in Brussels, the HfG School of Arts in Frankfurt, the Mobilis Multipurpose Complex in Brussels, the Puppet Theatre in Tirana and the National Library of Albania in Tirana, among others.
Prior to establishing XDGA De Geyter worked with the Office for Metropolitan Architecture from 1984 till 1991.
Alongside his practice, De Geyter has been active in academia, teaching at Sint-Lucas Brussels (BE), EPFL (CH), the Berlage Institute (NL) and ETHZ (CH), and lecturing at equally prestigious institutions across Europe and the US.
In addition to the publication of ‘After Sprawl’, a research project on the contemporary city, XDGA counts to this day 6 monographs and three travelling solo exhibitions. The office was awarded numerous prizes such as the Belgian Award for Architecture, Bigmat Award, Mies Van Der Rohe Award and the Brussels Architecture Award.
