Real estate is both the largest asset class and one of the most heavily regulated sectors in the global economy. The Real Estate Law course explores the varied roles that lawyers play in navigating this sector for commercial real estate clients – negotiating and structuring transactions, navigating legal concerns across the lifecycle of real estate assets, and resolving real estate-related disputes. Through readings, engagement with transactional documents, and exercises, the course examines central legal dimensions of the development, operation, and disposition of commercial real estate. Throughout, the course considers broader legal ecosystems surrounding real estate markets in the United States and internationally.
