About this Event
Join us for a lecture featuring recent projects by architect Xaveer De Geyter, founder of XDGA.
Speaker
Xaveer De Geyter is the principal and founder of XDGA, an internationally operating architecture and urban design firm, established in 1989 and based in Brussels and Paris. XDGA stands for progressive and provocative urban and architectural concepts. Major completed projects include public space projects, such as the Brussels Subway Station and Public Square Place Rogier; educational infrastructure, including Europa College in Bruges and the Kitchen Tower in Brussels; and civic venues, including the Headquarters of the Province of Antwerp. Prior to establishing XDGA, from 1984 to 1991, De Geyter worked with the Office for Metropolitan Architecture. De Geyter has taught at Sint-Lucas Brussels, École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), the Berlage Institute, and ETH Zurich, and lectured at institutions across Europe and the United States.
In addition to the publication of After Sprawl, a research project on the contemporary city, XDGA has published six monographs and curated three travelling solo exhibitions. The office has been awarded the Belgian Award for Architecture, the Bigmat Award, the Mies Van Der Rohe Award, and the Brussels Architecture Award.
