Eric Plosky is the former Executive Director of MobilityData, the international nonprofit organization created to steward the ongoing development of transportation data standards, and the former Chief of Transportation Planning at the U.S. Department of Transportation Volpe National Transportation Systems Center.
Eric has over 25 years of experience working domestically and globally with private, public, and nonprofit partners to improve transportation systems, as well as economic and social mobility, particularly using innovative data systems and tools.
Eric has previously taught “Transportation and Sustainability” (ENVR E-174) at the Harvard Extension School, and served as part of the teaching staff for the introductory master’s course (ENVR E-101) in the sustainability program. He also developed a course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, “Transportation Data and Applications,” which he taught in 2025 and 2026.
Eric maintains a number of professional affiliations, such as with the Transportation Research Board, the American Public Transportation Association, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers. Eric earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees in planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
