Ivan Panushev has worked with private and governmental organizations on the standardization and implementation of innovative design and building technologies since 2000. Currently, he is the head of strategic partnerships at MakerBot, the global leader in desktop 3D printing. He also serves on the advisory board of the Big Data Program at the Center for Innovation Education at Rutgers University.
Prior to joining MakerBot he was co-founder and board member at Inpher Inc. where he was responsible for product development and design of secret computing technology for privacy-preserving machine learning and AI.
Ivan is the former co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Horizontal Systems, acquired by Autodesk (Nasdaq: ADSK) in 2011, which served as the foundation of Autodesk BIM 360 and became the company’s fastest-growing cloud offering. He went on to become the Senior Platform Manager at Autodesk’s BIM 360 product group. Horizontal was a provider of innovative cloud-based BIM collaboration solutions for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC). Horizontal brought BIM to the cloud with technology that supported multi-discipline model collaboration and intelligent object data exchange for the building and infrastructure industries. This approach enabled architects, engineers, owners, and builders across the globe to collaborate in real-time in over 40 different 3D formats while providing a solution to distribute BIM data into external business systems.
Ivan held a postdoctoral research scientist position at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he helped launch the Digital Building Laboratory in 2009 and co-authored sections of the National BIM Standard (NBIMS).
Previously, Ivan served as Vice President of Engineering at Building Works, Inc. where he managed the development of national building standards. He co-authored two books on building technologies published by McGraw-Hill.
Ivan holds Doctor of Design (DDes) and Master in Design Studies (MDes) degrees from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) degree from Harvard College. His hobbies and interests include snowboarding, sailing, and blockchain.
