Christian Veddeler

Design Critic in Architecture

Christian Veddeler is a Director and Senior Architect at UNStudio. Alongside his role in UNStudio’s Board of Directors, he is leading several projects in Europe and the US with a focus on system thinking in architecture.

In close collaboration with Ben van Berkel, Christian Veddeler was in charge of the Campus for the Singapore University of Technology and Design, which was completed in 2015.

Previously he has been responsible for projects as the K4 office section of the recently completed Arnhem Central Station Masterplan and a series of pavilion projects aiming on integral and emergent design processes, such as the Holiday Home at UPenn's ICA, the Changing Room for the Venice Biennale, the Burnham Pavilion in Chicago, the New Amsterdam Pavilion in New York City and the Motion Matters Series at Harvard GSD, Aedes Berlin and the Maxxi in Rome.

His extensive involvement in academia includes numerous teaching assignments and visiting professorships amongst others at Harvard University, TU Delft, the AA Visiting School and Städelschule Architecture Class, SAC in Frankfurt, Germany.

Christian is a frequent speaker and lectured at the GSD, MIT, University of Illinois in Chicago and the Acadia Conference.

Christian Veddeler is a registered architect in the Netherlands and has received a Master of Science with Honours degree in Architecture from the Delft University of Technology.
