Sanjay Seth (MPA/MUP ’19) is one of six newly elected alumni to join the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) Board of Directors.
Seth is a climate and sustainability expert who has worked across public, private, nonprofit, and academic sectors. Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Seth was chief of staff and senior advisor for climate and equity for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in New England. Previously, he was climate resilience program manager for the City of Boston, developing and implementing plans to prepare Boston for climate change. Prior to that, he worked on a resilience plan for New York City.
Seth is co-founder and past co-president of Harvard Alumni for Climate and the Environment , an HAA Shared Interest Group with thousands of members. He was a fellow of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative and lecturer for a course on climate change, public policy, and cities at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
As a dual-degree student, he organized across nine Schools to improve the climate change curriculum and founded the Climate Leaders Program, an interdisciplinary program for students with an interest in climate action. He also co-organized a program culminating in a visit to Texas after Hurricane Harvey, where students learned about emergency response and recovery efforts from many perspectives.

“I believe everyone deserves clean air, clean water, a safe environment, and a hopeful future. As a student, alumnus, and lecturer, I built communities that connect people to learn from one another and work together. I’m interested in creating more opportunities to connect across Schools and disciplines, serve our communities, and contribute as alumni to face shared challenges together.”
