James Carras MC/MPA 1980 is principal of Carras Community Investment Inc., where he provides community and economic development advisory services to public, private, and alternative sector clients. For 30 years, Carras has taught community and economic development courses at Harvard University (IOP Study Groups), MIT, Tufts University, and the University of South Florida, where he leads the Community Real Estate Development Certificate Program in Tampa Bay and South Florida. He has served as the founding executive director of the National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders and the Founding President of the Broward Housing Partnership and the South Florida Community Land Trust. Before attending the Kennedy School, he served as a community development adviser to the mayor of Boston and was the executive director of the Massachusetts Urban Reinvestment Advisory Group, where he was awarded the John Hay Whitney Fellowship. Jim is certified by the National Development Council as an Economic Development Finance Professional.
